Does the Village have a burn pile?

Yes! The village has a burn pile located out by our sewer ponds. Please review the rules below prior to utilizing the burn pile:

  • The burn pile is for Village of Blue Mound residents only!
  • Tree services must check in with the Village office or call the Public Works Department at 217-692-2822 prior to using our burn pile.
  • Yard Waste Only (No lumber or trash of any kind)!
  • Logs must be 10 inches in diameter & 10 feet long or smaller. Any logs bigger are prohibited.
  • All materials must be placed as close to the burn pile as possible (not in the middle of the road or at the dirt pile).

This is a notice that cameras are in use at the burn pile and fines will be issued if any of the above rules are violated. If you have any further questions regarding the burn pile or how to get there, please call the Public Works Department at 217-692-2822 or stop by the Village office at 309 Railroad Ave.

When does the Village pickup brush?

Brush pickup is the 3rd Wednesday of each month (weather permitting). If there is a weather delay on the scheduled pickup day, the pickup will be the next available day. Please see the rules below for brush pickup:

  • Whole trees will not be picked up. 
  • Grass & leaves must be placed in yard waste bags. If they are not in yard waste bags, it will not be picked up.
  • Potted plants, flower bed or garden waste will not be picked up unless it is in a yard waste bag.
  • Trees left from a tree service will not be picked up. It is the tree services responsibilty to remove any tree(s) that they worked on.
